Old World Warehouse Now
Building number 5 of the former Morse Elevator works has been carefully fashioned into 15 new loft spaces.
The inspiration for these spaces were the true artists lofts of NYC.
Floor plans are open and ceilings are high. Windows reach 9 to 10 feet high.
Original building features dominate each loft unit: red brick walls, wooden plank ceilings, timber beams and original pine floors.
Modification of the original building was done only to the extent necessary to create updated systems, kitchens and baths for truly comfortable loft living: Lofts have been fitted out with high
efficiency HVAC systems, exposed duct work, washers and dryers, granite and stainless kitchens and more, without erasing the building’s industrial character. – Some units still contain
shafts and wheels from the original woodworking equipment.
People who live in lofts recognize that the relationship between a person and his or her surroundings is crucial. For this reason not only is each loft flexible, historic and beautiful, but the
building has a recycling program that includes plastic, cardboard and batteries that the City will not pick up. There is a Philly Car Share “pod” within one block of the building and
an “el” stop (on the Market-Frankford line) about two blocks away.
Other building features include a remote keyless entry system and, for easy more-in and deliveries, a large freight elevator.
